What’s Sattvic Food? It is fresh, whole and real (organic) food. seems easy right? but yet the thought can be intimidating to many. Since I came to Barcelona, it has not been difficult to find freshness in food yet to find sattva has been the challenging part till I came across Cal Cirera!
Cal Cirera was started by Chef Slavko Mitric whose love for making beautiful nourishing food has flourished in many ways. from Living in the Balkan region in his childhood where food is a beautiful mix of German, Turkish, and Italian roots. Spending his youth in Valencia has grown his love for food where “Paella” is Originated. He has studies Gastronomy in Le Cordon Blu in Chicago where he decided to pursue his dreams and move to Barcelona to share his Love of Making artful healthy food.
Now off to the important part, FOOD. Why sattvic food? Food is here to nourish, to give beauty, to bring happiness and energy. This is what Cal Cirera is all about. Creating food with the least harm to the plants. to serve food in its most whole way. all Ingredients are fresh, locally sourced and always homemade.
My meal was combination of vegetarian food catered to the mix of Croatian food, Typical Catalan Dish, and a creation of Chef Slavko.
First Dish: mmm Mushrooms, my weak point so I have to say this is the best prepared mushrooms I have had. They were prepared in their most whole way and cooked to preserve their freshness and full nutrient.

The second dish was a mix of Blakan and Catalan. The Balkan part is a homemade sauce (Ajvar) which is sauce prepared from red peppers, egg plants and Garlic which is originated from Turkey. The prep is just mouth watering with all the aromas. The Catalan part is typical catalan dish of Tomato, Olive Oil and Bread.

Third dish is of course the Italian part, the beauty of picking the right ripe tomatoes with the freshest mozzarella and of course the gourmet feel of the dish where even the greens are handpicked.

Fourth, I can’t stop on this one. It is the most amazing dish that you could ever taste. mix between savory and sweet. Eggplants with Honey

The Restaurant is dedicated to bring the gourmet luxury experience of local, fresh and whole food to the local community.

For me, if I get the feeling of pure happiness, joy from the food then Yes it’s totally Sattvic (healthy for my body and Soul) and this is what Cal Cirera food.

    Wow! When you told me the food was amazing you weren’t playing around. I just ate lunch and my stomach is growling for the food in the pictures. Whenever I get o Barcelona… I know I will clear my dinner plate.
